The house arranges to publish course books, teacher's guides, study guides and other reference books for the TVU's teaching and scientific research, and other multi-media, self-access materials for adults and for open and distance education. It also produces some excellent academic works in the fields of social science, natural science and engineering electronics, architecture, chemistry, physiology. During 1982-1995, it has published more than 2000 kinds of books, which add up to 200,000,000 copies.

The Press has won a high reputation among the world of publishers and educators for its quality academic works, its successful cooperation with the experts and specialists from the other universities, its exploration and achievements in the field of open and distance education, its application of educational technology, and its social and economic benefits. It has presented itself in Hong Kong Books Exhibition, International Books Exhibition and many other exhibitions inside China. The house has been doing copyright business with Japan. Thailand and Malaysia, etc. Some of its books have won national awards, ministerial awards and district awards.

The CCRTVU Press has its own distribution network throughout China and its books are sold in every corner of China. In Beijing, it has two readers' service centers to arrange retails and post-purchases.

The press has been conducted on a system of director responsibility, and the director is the president of the CCRTVU. It has 40 editors, out of which 15 are senior editors. It is divided into Editorial Department, Publishing Department, Accounting Office, Director's and Composition Center.

The CCRTVU Press is a member of the China Publishers' Association and also one of the China Universities Publishers' Association.
